Hikvision Access Control Singapore

Hikvision started in CCTV and has expanded into a complete access control platform: MinMoe face recognition terminals and HikCentral Access Control software. Free for up to 16 doors, with anti-passback, time zones, attendance tracking, and full CCTV integration built in. A serious contender for Singapore's small to mid-size commercial market.

About Hikvision Access Control

From CCTV Leader to Full Access Control Platform

Hikvision is best known globally as the world's largest CCTV manufacturer. In recent years they have expanded significantly into access control: developing their own face recognition terminals, door controllers, card readers, turnstiles, and the HikCentral Access Control software platform. This is not a minor product extension: Hikvision has applied the same R&D investment and manufacturing scale that made them dominant in CCTV to building a comprehensive access control ecosystem. The result is a platform that competes directly with established access control brands on features, and undercuts most of them on price.

In Singapore, Hikvision access control is gaining traction across the commercial office and institutional market: particularly for premises with 2 to 16 doors where the combination of competitive hardware pricing and free software licensing makes the total system cost difficult to match. The same HikCentral platform that manages cameras also manages access control, time attendance, and visitor management: giving building managers a single interface for the majority of their security operations. For integrators already deploying Hikvision CCTV, adding access control from the same brand simplifies installation, reduces integration complexity, and consolidates ongoing support under one vendor.

Securevision Scope

Securevision installs Hikvision MinMoe face recognition terminals and HikCentral Access Control for Singapore commercial offices and premises. We specify Hikvision access control primarily for small to medium installations: up to 16 doors: where the free software licence and CCTV integration are significant advantages. For larger enterprise installations or projects requiring the deepest access control feature set and the most established track record, ZKTeco or Suprema remain our primary recommendations. Hikvision access control is a platform we are actively deploying and evaluating as it matures.

Why We Use Hikvision for Access Control

Three Reasons Hikvision Access Control Is Worth Taking Seriously

Free software for up to 16 doors. Advanced access features already built in. Full integration with Hikvision CCTV on the same platform. That is a strong proposition for Singapore's commercial office market.

💰

Free Software for Up to 16 Doors: Genuinely Competitive

HikCentral Access Control is free of charge for up to 16 doors and 3,000 users. This is not a trial or a stripped-down version: the free tier includes anti-passback, multi-door interlocking, first-person-in rules, multi-factor authentication, time zones, holiday scheduling, attendance tracking, and advanced access strategies. For a Singapore commercial office with 4, 8, or 12 doors, the software cost is zero.

Most competing access control platforms charge per-door or per-user software licences that add meaningful cost to a project. Hikvision's free-to-16-doors approach removes that calculation entirely for the majority of Singapore office deployments. This pricing is not sustainable unless Hikvision is deliberately using access control as a platform to extend their CCTV customer relationships: which appears to be exactly the strategy. For clients and integrators, the result is a complete, capable access control system at a price point that established brands struggle to match.

🔗

Native CCTV Integration: One Platform for Cameras and Doors

HikCentral Access Control is a module within the HikCentral Professional platform: the same system that manages Hikvision cameras. For a building running Hikvision CCTV and Hikvision access control, both systems are managed from one interface: camera live view, access event logs, door control, and CCTV bookmarking on access events all in one place.

When an access denied event occurs at a MinMoe terminal, HikCentral automatically bookmarks the corresponding camera timestamp: giving security personnel a direct clip for every refused entry without manual search. For a building manager who currently manages CCTV in one system and access control in another, consolidating to HikCentral removes that split. This integration depth is one of the things that differentiates Hikvision from access-control-only brands who must integrate with third-party CCTV as an afterthought.

🧠

MinMoe Terminals: Face Recognition at a Competitive Price

The MinMoe face recognition terminal range uses deep learning AI for face recognition at 99%+ accuracy and under 0.2 seconds. Dual lenses: visible light and infrared: provide liveness detection and consistent performance in low-light conditions. The terminals support face, card, fingerprint, PIN, QR code, and Bluetooth credentials, and connect directly to HikCentral Access Control via IP.

For Singapore office environments where contactless entry is a practical requirement, MinMoe terminals deliver biometric face recognition at a price point significantly below Suprema's equivalent hardware. The trade-off is that Suprema's biometric depth and outdoor hardware robustness remain ahead of Hikvision for high-security or demanding outdoor deployments. For a typical Singapore air-conditioned office entrance, MinMoe performs reliably and at a lower total hardware cost.

SECURE™ Integration

Hikvision access control and CCTV run on the same HikCentral platform: access events automatically bookmark camera timestamps, and the same dashboard shows live camera feeds alongside door status and access logs. MinMoe terminals also support video intercom connection to Hikvision indoor stations, allowing visitor calls to ring at a reception desk or mobile app and enabling door release from the same device used for camera monitoring.

What We Install

Hikvision Access Control Products We Deploy

Three components form the core of every Hikvision access control installation: the face recognition terminal at the door, the access controller for multi-door projects, and the HikCentral management platform.

Hikvision Access Control vs ZKTeco vs Akuvox: How We Choose

Hikvision is the right choice when: The client already has Hikvision CCTV and wants a single-platform solution. The installation is up to 16 doors and the free software tier is meaningful. Face recognition and time attendance are required alongside door access. The project does not need cloud management: a Windows PC on site is acceptable.

ZKTeco is the right choice when: The installation is larger than 16 doors, requires the deepest enterprise access control feature set, needs biometric accuracy and robustness beyond what Hikvision currently offers, or where ZKTeco's longer access control track record in Singapore is a client requirement.

Akuvox is the right choice when: The client specifically wants cloud management with no on-site server or software, and the installation is simple: 3 to 5 doors without complex access grouping requirements.

Suprema is the right choice when: Biometric accuracy and outdoor hardware robustness are the primary requirements, particularly for high-traffic or outdoor deployments where Hikvision's MinMoe terminals have not yet matched Suprema's long Singapore track record.
