Fix, Upgrade, or Start Again?
Here Is How to Think About It.
This is the question most homeowners are sitting with before they call anyone. Here is the honest framework.
Most of the calls we receive are from homeowners who have lived with a problem for longer than they should have. A gate that sticks. An alarm that beeps at 3am. Cameras that have been offline for months. A system installed by a company that no longer answers the phone. We fix what is broken. We upgrade what is outdated. And where it makes sense, we bring everything together under one system you can actually manage.
Fix
When fixing makes sense
A single component has failed on a system that is otherwise sound: a faulty camera, a worn gate motor, a dead backup battery, a misaligned detector. The underlying system is from a reputable brand, is still supported, and has useful life remaining. Fix the component. Do not replace the system.
Upgrade
When upgrading makes sense
The system works but it cannot do what you need it to do today: no mobile app, no AI detection, no smartphone gate control, poor night vision. The infrastructure (cabling, panel) is still usable. Add or replace specific components to bring the system forward without replacing everything.
Start Again
When starting fresh makes sense
The system is more than ten years old and multiple components are failing together. The original installer is gone and the brand is no longer supported in Singapore. The cabling is analogue and incompatible with current IP systems. At this point, piecemeal repairs cost more than a fresh installation and still leave you with an ageing foundation.
Not sure which situation you are in? We will tell you honestly after a site assessment: and we will not recommend a full replacement if a targeted fix or upgrade is what your system actually needs.
The Problems We Hear Every Week
If any of these sounds familiar, you are not alone.
Intercom Not Working
Visitors stuck outside. Calls do not ring where they should. Cannot see who is at the gate.
Usually a faulty door station, a broken indoor handset, or a corroded cable connection. Diagnosable and fixable in a single visit in most cases.
Gate Fails Unexpectedly
Motorised gates that jam, open on their own, or behave unpredictably.
Gate motor faults are typically gear wear, limit switch failure, or a control board issue. We carry common spare parts for FAAC and MAG motors and can often fix on the first visit.
Cameras Offline
Cannot view footage. CCTV keeps disconnecting. Blind spots you did not know about.
Offline cameras are usually a PoE switch port failure, a cable fault, or a configuration issue after a power surge. We identify the cause before recommending any hardware replacement.
Alarm Beeping Constantly
False alarms. Unexplained beeping. Neighbours complaining.
Persistent beeping is almost always a low backup battery or a communication fault: both are inexpensive to fix. Persistent false alarms are a detector positioning or sensitivity problem. Neither requires a system replacement.
Too Many Vendors
Alarm, CCTV, gate, intercom all from different companies. No one takes ownership.
We assess the full system and take over as the single point of contact. Where systems can be integrated, we integrate them. Where they cannot, we advise on the most practical upgrade path.
Original Installer Gone
Cannot find the company that installed the system. No one to call when something goes wrong.
We take over support of most standard security systems from established brands: RISCO, Paradox, Hikvision, Aiphone, FAAC: even if we did not install them. We need the model numbers and a site visit to confirm.
What We Check When We Come to Site
We assess the full system: not just the broken part.
A common mistake in security upgrades is fixing the symptom without assessing the cause. A camera that keeps going offline may have a failing PoE switch, a deteriorating cable, or a camera at end of life: the diagnosis determines the fix.
We check: every camera channel for live view and playback quality, the alarm panel for zone status and fault history, the backup battery age and condition, the gate motor for wear indicators and limit switch calibration, the intercom door station and all indoor units, and the cabling condition where accessible. We tell you what we find, what we recommend, and what it will cost: before any work starts.
What We Fix and Upgrade
One partner for all residential security systems.
Burglar Alarm Fix / Upgrade
We diagnose false alarms, replace ageing backup batteries, fix faulty zones, and upgrade to mobile-app-connected panels. Wireless upgrades available for homes where re-cabling is not practical.
CCTV Repair and Upgrade
Offline cameras, failing hard disks, and low-resolution systems: all diagnosable and fixable. We upgrade to AI-capable cameras with human and vehicle detection, and replace NVRs with rack-mounted units for better protection and cable management.
Video Intercom Upgrade
Wired intercom not working or showing a degraded picture? We repair or replace door stations and indoor units. For homes that want smartphone access and remote gate release, we upgrade to IP-based systems like Akuvox.
Auto Gate Repair
Swing and sliding gate motors: FAAC, MAG, Dormer: repaired and serviced. We carry common spare parts and can usually fix on the first visit. Where motors are beyond economic repair, we advise on the right replacement.
Network and WiFi
Dead zones that cause security cameras and intercoms to drop off the network. We install structured cabling and access points where needed so your security devices have a stable, reliable connection.
System Integration
Multiple systems from different vendors that do not talk to each other. Where the infrastructure allows, we bring alarm, CCTV, intercom, and gate under a single management platform. Where it does not, we advise on the most practical upgrade path.
How It Works
Assessment
We visit site and assess every system: not just the one you called about. We have found gate motor faults about to cause a failure, and CCTV hard disks a week from failing, during visits that started as intercom repair calls.
Honest Recommendation
We tell you what needs fixing, what is worth upgrading, and what can wait. If a full replacement is not warranted, we will tell you. If it is, we explain why: with the evidence from the assessment.
Fix or Upgrade
Repair or installation carried out with minimal disruption. We protect your floors, clean up after ourselves, and do not leave until everything is tested and working.
Handover and Support
We show you how to use any new or upgraded systems. Ongoing service plans available for homeowners who want scheduled annual maintenance.
